Campaign Story

Hello! I’m Katie and my husband is Bennett. We’ve been married since December 2017. My husband is active duty military and we have one child, a son. Carson was born in 2019 at Fort Campbell, KY, we conceived him naturally.
In January 2021 we moved to Fort Cavazos, TX and in November 2021 I had an ectopic pregnancy that required surgery to removed the pregnancy and my right fallopian tube. The chance for recurrent ectopic pregnancy after your first one is about 10-27% but the likelihood of a normal intrauterine pregnancy after ectopic is 50-80% In May of 2022 I had an early miscarriage around 4weeks 3days. In June 2022 I had a positive pregnancy test, because of my history I was monitored closely and in the end was diagnosed with another ectopic pregnancy because my hcg levels were not rising appropriately. I opted to take methotrexate which helped dissolve the pregnancy and I was able to keep my left tube. After 3 pregnancy losses I made an appointment to get tested for anything that could give us an answer. I had a HSG test to check my left tube for any blockages. My tube wasn’t blocked and a pregnancy was able to occur without extra measures.
In May 2023 we moved from Texas to Fort Jackson, Columbia, South Carolina, I was able to get a referral to a local reproductive endocrinologist (Fertility Specialist) We had an appointment in December 2023 to discuss different options like IUI. In January 2024 we found out I was pregnant naturally and I was able to get into a obgyn office to be closely monitored, around 6weeks I had an ultrasound and we saw a gestational sac with a yolk sac. Thrilled and over the moon we scheduled another ultrasound for 9weeks. At 9weeks there was no baby and the gestational sac was still measuring at 6weeks. I was diagnosed with a blighted ovum, missed miscarriage and scheduled a D&C surgery. After my surgery we did one round of timed intercourse with a trigger shot to induce ovulation. After one failed cycle I had surgery in May 2024 to remove scar tissue from my uterus and a laparoscopy to remove endometriosis. My left tube was checked during this surgery and is blocked because of scar tissue and endometriosis.

IVF is our only option to have another child. Any contribution will get us one step closer to achieving this!
